Tony Verb is an innovator, marketer and entrepreneur. Growing up in Hungary, he is now based in Hong Kong. He has lived in six countries and holds a Masters Degree in International Relations and is regarded as a specialist in the development of investment products and networks.
He describes himself as a serial entrepreneur focusing on innovation, technology and anything else that fosters human development and progress. He committed himself to make a difference and is on a permanent search to do so through opportunities, businesses and solutions that have an impact.
He is Partner at NEST, an early stage venture capital fund, corporate innovation consulting and accelerator management company. He is also Co-Founder at Mettā, a community-led initiative merging entrepreneurs with the wider startup ecosystem. In 2017, he co-founded GreaterBay Ventures & Advisors. Since 2018, he is co-founder and director of GreaterBayX, and in 2019, he co-founded Carbonless Asia, an innovation and investment platform focused on technology solutions to decarbonize Asia.
Currently, he commits most of his time to the Greater Bay Area where he helps the integration of the Guangdong province ecosystems through facilitating technology transfer, joint ventures, smart city and different co-innovation initiatives (Vice-Chair at Greater Bay Area Investment Committee). As well as he is writing a series of opinion pieces as the Greater Bay Area Contributor for TechNode. On the side, he tries to contribute to the area through hospitality, media and entertainment projects.
He coined a term to describe his chosen area of interest: Urban Tech with Impact. This term describes technologies with long-term relevance and impact on the world and its urban populations. This includes: quantum computing, autonomous electric vehicles, clean energy, artificial intelligence, robotics, education, mixed reality; everything is relevant in urbanisation.
Having gained great experience in the creative industry and having a passion for culture, he has produced unique events for local communities, and worked with multiple entertainment companies in Hong Kong, such as Ticketflap (as CEO) and Clockenflap Music and Arts Festival (as Marketing & Development Director).
He has experience being a Consultant at mm&v media, Advisor for Red Bull Singapore, Managing Partner at S.O.I.S Crossborder (helping SMEs and local municipalities in their cross-border projects), and being a Consultant at Upstream Systems (running local marketing campaigns globally). Further, his work spans international organizations, such as Unilever, McCann Erickson and Jack Morton Worldwide. He was Associate Growth Officer at McCann and Director of Strategic Development at Jack Morton. From 2004 - 2013, he was Founder & CEO of C&Co.
On the side, he was a Member of the World Economic Forum’s Global Shapers community and is Member of the Board of OWN Academy. In his spare time, he commits to philanthropic projects and is the Producer of a documentary about domestic helpers in Hong Kong, called The Helper Documentary.
