Melissa Kang is responsible for all aspects of the business as Managing Partner at JI Capital Partners since 2018. She started investing with an ESG and impact lens since 2012, and has over 20 years experience of private equity investment.

She graduated from the National University of Singapore with a Bachelor of Arts Degree, major in Economics and Political Science, and subsequently earned a Masters degree in Applied Finance from the University of Adelaide, Australia. She participated to the YMP 2000 program at Insead.

Melissa has also founded the social enterprise, Jasmine Sustainability Research Institute in Asia, that focused on specialized market research in ESG and high impact investment opportunities. She was a founding member, Portfolio Manager and the dedicated ESG Officer of Integro, the global impact fund at Morgan Stanley between 2014 and 2018.

Melissa worked at IFC for 2 years, the private sector arm of World Bank Group as a Principal Investment Officer and Regional Lead for East Asia Pacific, was responsible for private equity fund investments, based in Indonesia. In that role, she was responsible for new business that covered 15 countries and oversaw $1 billion of portfolio investments, and sat on several advisory boards. Melissa was also the Global Lead for gender investment for funds at IFC. Before embarking on impact investing, Melissa had held senior investment positions at ING, DBS Bank and 3i.

Melissa is a frequent speaker at private equity conferences in Asia focusing on ESG, sustainability and impact investing.
